Time permitting, Turboshred competitions are played out so that every placing is determined. Players who do not advance in winners bracket jams go to consolation rounds or a playoff, where they play off against those who were eliminated in the same round. A typical competition might go like this:

Total competitors: 16

Winners Bracket | First Round: Four groups of four players. The top two advance to the next round. The third and fourth place players go to the consolation round.

Winners Bracket | Second Round: Two groups of four players. The top two advance to the finals. The third and fourth place players go to the consolation round.

Finals: There is one group of four players. At the end of the jam, the players are ranked 1st through 4th place based on their scores.

Consolation Bracket | First Round: The eight players who did not advance out of the First Round of the Winners Bracket play here. There are two groups of four players. The top two in each group advance. The third place and fourth place players go to the 13-16th place playoff.

Consolation Bracket | Second Round: There are eight players here: four who did not advance out of the Second Round of the Winners Bracket and four who advanced from the First Round of the Consolation Bracket. There are two groups of four players. The top two in each group advance to the 5th-8th place playoff. The third place and fourth place players go to the 9th-12th place playoff.

5th-8th Place Playoff: The first and second place players from the Second Round of the Consolation Bracket advance to this playoff. There is one group of four players. At the end of the jam, the players are ranked 5th through 8th place based on their scores.

9th-12th Place Playoff: The third and fourth place players from the Second Round of the Consolation Bracket advance to this playoff. There is one group of four players. At the end of the jam, the players are ranked 9th through 13th place based on their scores.

13th-16th Place Playoff: The third and fourth place players from the First Round of the Consolation Bracket advance to this playoff. There is one group of four players. At the end of the jam, the players are ranked 13th through 16th place based on their scores.

These rounds would be played in a different order than they are listed here. For drama, all the playoffs and finals would be saved for the end, with playoffs for lower places first and the big finals last.
